Dr. Jeff Smith Veterinarian
Dr. Jeff Smith has spent his life tending animals. Dogs, cats, horses, pigs, birds, and even reptiles, love him. He moved to Starkville from Stuart, Florida to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine. He graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007.
He took a job at our hospital after graduation–then, it was Eaves Animal Hospital. In 2010, Dr. Smith purchased the hospital and renamed it Smith Animal Hospital. He strives for excellence, ensuring your animals receive the best care the Golden Triangle can offer.
When he’s not in the office, he works on his family farm with his wife, Macki, and his daughters Mackinzie, Adelyn, and Adessa. He also enjoys fishing, hunting, building, and recounting stories of his time on commercial fishing boats off the coast of Cordova, Alaska.
Dr. Price Coleman Veterinarian
Dr. Coleman hails from Corinth, Mississippi. He attended Northeast Mississippi Community College before transferring to Mississippi State University. In addition to his veterinary degree, he also holds a B.S. in Wildlife Fisheries & Aquaculture Science. He specializes in dermatology, internal medicine, and surgery.
In 2021, Dr. Coleman graduated with two distinct honors — the American Animal Hospital Association’s (AAHA) award for Proficiency in Primary Care and the American Academy of Dermatology’s award for Excellence in Veterinary Dermatology. He is also a proud member of the American and Mississippi Veterinary Medical Associations.
Dr. Coleman enjoys camping, hiking, and fishing. He and his wife, Hannah, live in Starkville.
Macki Smith Hospital Administrator
Macki Smith has served as the clinic administrator since 2010. She graduated from Mississippi State University in 2004 with a degree in College Education, and she feels that her experience in an unrelated field to veterinary medicine has give her a unique advantage.
She spends her limited free time raising her three daughters, writing, reading, gardening and painting. She also manages their family farm and many animals of various species.
Chase Griggs Veterinary Assistant
Chase grew up in Saltillo, MS. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 2021 with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. He hopes to continue his education at MSU’s prestigious veterinary school in the near future. He has one cat, Milo, and a Golden Retriever, Marshall.
